New Opportunities with the KISS Sidewinder

Greg Galford   Sep 17, 2025

We’re proud to announce that Tim Perrault, Florida Underwater Sports Technical Instructor, has added the KISS Sidewinder Rebreather certification to our program. This addition strengthens an already comprehensive lineup of technical diving opportunities, giving divers more ways to train, explore, and progress.

Expanding the Technical Diving Program

Our technical program already includes:

· Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) training

· Cave training – open circuit or CCR - from Cavern through Full Cave diver and beyond

· Sidemount training

· Technical courses including basics/intro training, decompression training and trimix/mixed gas training

· Both PADI and TDI courses are offered

The Sidewinder expands this framework by offering a rebreather option in a sidemount configuration—a natural fit for divers who want to build on their existing skills while accessing the benefits of closed-circuit diving.

Why the Sidewinder Matters

The KISS Sidewinder CCR is a blend of innovation and familiarity. For divers, it means:

· Compact, streamlined, sidemount-friendly design ideal for any type of diving and especially good for overhead environments like caves and wrecks.

· Extended dive times with reduced gas consumption and decompression obligations.

· A smooth transition for those already comfortable in sidemount but ready to move into CCR

· Optional configurations include single tank backmount or chestmount

Opportunities for Divers

With this new opportunity, Florida Underwater Sports can now offer:

· Sidewinder try dives to see what CCR diving, and the Sidewinder are all about

· Sidewinder CCR courses for new or experienced CCR divers (crossover).

· Pathways that integrate open circuit sidemount and rebreather training

· Personalized mentoring to help divers choose the right gear and direction for their goals

Looking Ahead

Becoming a KISS Sidewinder Instructor is more than just earning another certification. It allows me to provide divers with a unique tool and training option that can be applied when the environment or dive objectives call for it. With the Sidewinder, I can guide divers through new pathways for advancement, helping them build skills and achieve goals that were previously out of reach.
